If, like me you have zero artistic ability but you still want to create cool animations, then imho this is THE bit of kit you want.There are others available, but this imho is the best VALUE option on the market.Its VERY well made, lovely interface, and they provide a nice sized package of free art for your own use to get you started. This one is easily worth the FULL asking price.Dont delay.... Buy today :). Super buggy (at least for macOS), but is kind of helpful for hobbyist game devs.Would recommend it only if it is on sale.. It's a must-have for any game artist or developer who is seriously looking at a great all-encompassing 2d animation tool. It's perfect for large sprites or even tiny pixel art. Animating is a breeze and the interface is very well-designed. Highly recommended!. Spriter is a simple tool for 2D skeletal animation. It makes creating 2D game characters a breeze and has most of the features you would want. If you are working on a 2D game and want fluid character animations without too much hassle, Give Spriter a try.. Love this program.Has helped me make some wonderful animations for games.Sometimes I struggle with it a little bit, I wish the user interface was a little more intuitive...Solid buy.. I have a mac and it just destroys the game and looks broken but they say its great for PC.. Overall a very useful program. Animating is relatively painless, and export to Unity 5 went well, with only one animation we tested going crazy after import. (Still can't figure out why...) I paid $30 and also bought all the DLC packs for half price, so I view this as a really good investment. If you need the tool to create animations for a Unity 2D project, it is well worth the $60 price.I kind of got concerned after buying the DLC when I read that there were "Essential" versions of them already included with Spriter Pro. There are hundreds, if not thousands, of hours worth of artwork included here. It has a consistent vissual style and would all fit together in one game without clashing visually. If you do programming challenges like Ludum Dare, this would be great base artwork to free you time to work on game play instead. To be honest, it is worth the cost simply as an extensive set of examples of how to build your own animations. You could even simply reskin these animations with your own character parts and be good to go. Worth it at full price. A must buy at any discount over 40%. Spriter R4 Release!: Hi everyone, We're pleased to announce the release of Spriter build R4 which will (or already has) automatically update when you log into Steam. R4 is the first build to feature the newly updated manual which now covers all core features. R4 also features the long awaited hot-key list, which you can access by pressing Shift+Escape (or through the Help menu). One great new feature introduced in this new build is the ability to copy a specific individual attribute of an object (such as it's x scale, y scale, position, angle, or opacity) and automatically paste to all of its other key frames. This build should also fix a library issue with the 64 bit Linux version. As this full and future-proof implementation develops we're very excited with what it will offer Spriter users, but it's also becoming obvious that there's a conflict between the need to make sure its done carefully and the desire to get it done quickly. For this reason we've decided its best for me to switch gears and make a much simpler reference implementation which perfectly supports all current features (but not the future features) so that people who need to port or finish a Spriter implementation sooner rather than later will have a concise and easy to follow example in the near future. The much more robust implementation will be the focus once the basic implementation is made available to everyone.
